Tamil Nadu Inaugurates 25th Cath Lab at Government Hospital in Chennai

The Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital (KCSSH) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, has unveiled its new cath lab, marking the 25th such facility in the state and the fifth in a government hospital in Chennai. Costing ₹6.74 crore, the cath lab will facilitate procedures like angiograms, stenting, pacemaker implantations, and heart valve repairs.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian highlighted the broader accessibility of cardiac care, benefiting residents from various districts. The minister announced plans for a 26th cath lab at the Tiruvarur Government Medical College Hospital and initiatives to establish four more such facilities.

Since KCSSH’s inauguration six months ago, it has treated over 88,000 outpatients, with 687 surgeries performed. The hospital, with a daily influx of 160-200 in-patients, has received ₹447 crore in funds for infrastructure and medical equipment, contributing to improved healthcare services in the region.
