Tamil Nadu Fishermen Attacked and Robbed by Unidentified Persons in Mid-Sea

In a distressing incident, three Tamil Nadu fishermen from Nagapattinam were assaulted and robbed by unknown assailants while fishing in mid-sea near the Kodiyakkari coast on August 22. The victims, identified as Vaithanyathaswamy, Selvaraj, and Ramaraj from Vellappallam, Nagapattinam, were attacked by six unidentified individuals in two boats who used wooden logs to assault them and stole their signal lights, GPS systems, gadgets, mobile phones, and their catch.

This incident follows another occurrence on August 21, where fishermen from Vellapallam and Arcottuthurai coastal villages reported a similar attack by unknown men, leading to injuries and hospitalization. Cases have been filed against unidentified Sri Lankan nationals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and investigations are ongoing.
