Tamil Nadu forest officials have apprehended a farmer named Shekhar for allegedly poisoning a tiger to death. This incident occurred after the carcasses of two tigers, aged 3 and 8, were discovered near the Avalanche dam in The Nilgiris. Following a probe and post-mortem examinations, it was determined that one of the tigers died due to pesticide poisoning, while the other fell victim to a fight with another tiger.
Near the tiger carcass, a cow carcass was also found. Subsequent questioning of the cow’s owner revealed that he had poisoned the cow after it was killed by a carnivore. Shekhar, the farmer, was arrested and later remanded to judicial custody.
