Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) after a NEET aspirant, Jagadeeswaran (19), took his own life due to repeated failures in the examination. The incident, which occurred in Chennai, was followed by the suicide of Jagadeeswaran’s father, Selvasekar.
Expressing shock and grief, Chief Minister Stalin emphasized that no student should resort to such extreme measures. He lamented the loss of a bright student and assured that the State government is actively working towards abolishing the barriers posed by NEET through legal actions.
He stated that political changes are expected in the coming months, which will ultimately lead to the removal of NEET’s obstacles. He vowed that the deaths of Jagadeeswaran and his father will mark the last instances of suicides attributed to NEET.
