Tamil Nadu’s Chief Secretary, Shiv Das Meena, conducted a review meeting to assess the state’s readiness against the threat of dengue as the northeast monsoon season approaches. Health officials have initiated measures including health camps in areas with reported fever cases, inspecting public spaces, and offering Nilavembu kudineer in healthcare facilities.
The state has employed 21,307 daily workers to control mosquito breeding, emphasizing the removal of items like tires, coconut shells, and plastic cans that can serve as breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Pharmacies have been instructed not to dispense fever medications without prescriptions, and private hospital doctors are receiving training in identifying and treating fever cases.
