Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Mourns the Loss of Eminent Agricultural Scientist Dr. M.S. Swaminathan

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin conveyed his condolences on Thursday following the passing of the distinguished agricultural scientist, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan. On social media, Chief Minister Stalin expressed deep sadness and praised Dr. Swaminathan’s pioneering work in sustainable food security, recognizing its profound global impact.

Dr. Swaminathan, a Padma Bhushan awardee, passed away at his Chennai residence at 11:20 am. He was renowned for his significant contributions to the Green Revolution, which revolutionized rice and wheat production through the adoption of Chemical-Biological technology.

Additionally, he served as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha from 2007 to 2013, consistently advocating for agricultural and farming issues in India.
