The Tambaram Corporation has initiated a pet licensing system for residents within its limits, requiring owners to apply through their website by June 20th. This move comes in response to recent incidents, including a dog attack, prompting mandatory licensing for pet owners. Health department officials will issue certificates following inspections, adhering to Tamil Nadu government directives.
Licences, covering dogs and cats, will be processed within a month after application submission. Additionally, the Corporation operates three animal birth control centres to manage stray dog populations, conducting surgeries and providing vaccinations. Measures to address stray cattle include constructing impounding sheds and an ABC centre, aiming to enhance community safety and responsible pet ownership.
