Surging Patient Numbers at National Centre of Ageing Reflect Growing Demand for Geriatric Care

The National Centre of Ageing (NCA) in Guindy has witnessed a remarkable surge in patient numbers, with the daily outpatient count surpassing 1,000 in just four months since its inauguration. This influx includes seniors from various districts, seeking treatment for cardiac and orthopedic issues, as well as physiotherapy and dialysis services.

The NCA, managed by the Madras Medical College’s Geriatric Department, offers comprehensive care under one roof, including specialized geriatric consultations and medication management. The high demand for the 19 pay wards underscores the necessity for such dedicated facilities, highlighting the NCA’s pivotal role in enhancing geriatric healthcare.
