Surge in Geriatric Patient Inflow at National Centre of Ageing
The National Centre of Ageing in Guindy has witnessed a remarkable surge in geriatric patient inflow, with a 100% increase in daily outpatients since its inauguration on February 25. With over 10,000 outpatients served and around 600 outpatients now received daily, the facility has become a crucial hub for geriatric care.
Notably, the demand for pay wards has soared, with all single room facilities consistently at full occupancy. The centre, equipped with 200 beds and various intensive care units, has treated over 300 inpatients since its inception. Specializing in a wide array of departments including cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, and more, the centre caters not only to Chennai but also to patients from surrounding districts, reflecting its growing significance in geriatric healthcare in the region.
