Surge in COVID-19 Cases in Karnataka After 10 Months

After nearly 10 months, Karnataka witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases, with active cases crossing the 100 mark on Thursday. The state reported 24 new cases, bringing the total number of positive patients to 40,89,174, with 105 active cases. Bengaluru remains the major hotspot, contributing over 88% of the total active cases in the state.

The city conducted 1,540 tests in the last 24 hours, with 23 positive cases. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a Cabinet sub-committee to monitor COVID-19 management and urged people not to panic. He emphasized the importance of masking up in crowded places and indoor gatherings, especially for the elderly and those with co-morbidities.
