The Supreme Court is set to hear Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra’s petition challenging her expulsion from the Lok Sabha on December 8. The expulsion followed the adoption of the Ethics Committee’s report, which found her “guilty of unethical conduct.”
Moitra’s plea, seeking urgent consideration, will be heard by a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti. The report also called for a government-led “intense, legal, institutional inquiry” into cash-for-query allegations against Moitra, who was accused by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey of accepting cash and gifts in exchange for raising questions in Parliament.
