Supreme Court Stresses Urgency in Personal Liberty Cases

During a bail plea hearing for businessman Amadeep Dhall in the Delhi liquor policy case, Justice B.R. Gavai emphasized the significance of time in matters of personal liberty, particularly under money laundering laws.

Represented by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, Dhall’s plea had been adjourned over 40 times in the Delhi High Court, delaying his chance for relief. Justice Gavai noted the prolonged delay, expressing concern over citizens being deprived of their liberty due to continuous adjournments. The Supreme Court urged the High Court to expedite the decision on Dhall’s bail plea to ensure timely justice.
