Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kumar has recused himself from hearing the bail pleas of AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, related to the excise policy scam cases. The decision came during a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Sanjay Karol, and Sanjay Kumar, where it was decided that another bench, excluding Justice Kumar, would handle Sisodia’s pleas.
Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing Sisodia, urged for an urgent listing, emphasizing that trials in both cases have yet to commence. The matter stems from allegations surrounding irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy for 2021-22, leading to legal challenges from both the CBI and ED. Sisodia’s earlier attempts to secure bail were denied by both the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court, citing substantial evidence supporting allegations of financial misconduct.
