Supreme Court Adjourns Chandrababu Naidu’s Anticipatory Bail Hearing in FiberNet Scam

The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s anticipatory bail plea in the FiberNet scam case to November 9. This plea was filed against the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s refusal of anticipatory bail to Naidu. Earlier this week, the bench had reserved judgment on another plea by Naidu seeking the quashing of an FIR in connection with the Skill Development scam case and had denied him interim bail.

In the FiberNet case, the Andhra CID had previously assured the Supreme Court that it wouldn’t arrest Naidu, and this undertaking will remain in effect until the next hearing. Naidu is accused of playing a “key role” in the AP FiberNet scam during his tenure as chief minister, allegedly pressuring officials to favor a specific company that secured the FiberNet contract.
