After nearly 21 hours of relentless drilling and monitoring, rescue teams successfully saved the life of a 15-month-old child who had fallen into an abandoned borewell in Lachyan village, Vijayapura district. The child, Satwik Mujagonda, had fallen into the borewell on the evening of April 3, prompting immediate rescue efforts. Led by Vijayapura Deputy Commissioner T. Bhoobalan, the teams employed various tactics, including lowering oxygen pipes and an endoscopy camera, to reach the child, who was trapped at a depth of 16 feet.
Despite encountering challenges such as rocks, the coordinated efforts of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire services, police, and other agencies ensured the successful rescue. The child was ultimately slid into a trench dug next to the borewell pipe, marking the end of a tense ordeal that gripped the community.
