The storm-water drain construction work at Kilambakkam bus terminus, aimed at preventing flooding, is expected to be completed by the end of October. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) is overseeing the construction of the bus terminus at a cost of ₹393 crore. The additional 1.5-km-long storm-water drain, which was not initially part of the project, is being executed on G.S.T. Road at a cost of ₹17 crore.
This construction has caused some delays in inaugurating the bus terminus. The facility will also feature a new police station, much like the one at Koyambedu’s CMBT, set to be built at a cost of ₹14.80 crore.
