Staff Member Arrested for Misappropriating ₹35 Lakh from College Funds

In a recent development, the Royapettah police have apprehended a staff member of a private college for allegedly misappropriating ₹35 lakh along with a colleague. Identified as Ashokan, 42, the chief administrative officer at Southern Academy and Maritime Studies College for Shipping and Allied Studies, discovered discrepancies in the accounts during a routine check.

Further investigation unveiled the involvement of P. Venkatesan, 50, the marketing head, and Kamini, an accountant, in the embezzlement of tuition fees. While Venkatesan has been arrested, the police are actively searching for Kamini to bring her to justice.
