Sri Lankan President Advocates Learning Hindi and Chinese for Students

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has suggested that in addition to English, children in the country should also learn Hindi and Chinese to adapt to the changing global landscape. During an event at a school in Colombo, President Wickremesinghe emphasized the need for a transformation in the education system to align with the future.

He stated that new subjects, including Hindi and Chinese, should be introduced to prepare children for the evolving world. While English is currently taught as the second language in Sri Lankan schools, changing trends in higher education have prompted some students to learn Hindi and Chinese for university entrance exams.
