SPCSS-TN Urges Tamil Nadu Government to Prioritize Education through Government Schools
The State Platform for Common School System – Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN) has urged the Tamil Nadu government to prioritize education under the Right to Education Act through government or government-aided schools. In a letter to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the forum emphasized that the real implementation of RTE can only be achieved through government schools, ensuring children their Right to Freedom of Life with dignity.
SPCSS-TN also called for equitable access to quality education for all children, demanding that the government declare every government and government-aided school as a neighbourhood school. Additionally, they highlighted that parents choosing private institutions over government schools should not be reimbursed according to Section 8 of the RTE Act, 2009.
