Southern Railway is in talks with the State government to establish a halt station between Vandalur and Urappakkam railway stations, proposed near the Kilambakkam bus terminus. The station, to be set up on a deposit term basis, will provide easy access to thousands of commuters traveling to the satellite bus terminus.
The government has deposited ₹40 lakh for the project, and the approval has been communicated to the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA). The project is expected to be completed within a year from the contract award, and railway officials are conducting a feasibility survey for preliminary planning and land acquisition.
