Disgruntled TDP Cadre Spark Unrest in Anantapur and Guntakal

Mild tension erupted in Anantapur and Guntakal as disgruntled members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ransacked party offices and set fire to furniture in protest against the announcement of D. Venkateswara Prasad and Gummanur Jayaram as MLA candidates.

In Anantapur, supporters of TDP leader Prabhakar Chowdary allegedly vandalized the TDP office upon hearing Prasad’s candidacy for the Anantapur Urban Assembly constituency. Similar unrest unfolded at the TDP office in Guntakal. Police intervened to control the situation, although no official complaints had been filed at the time.
