South Africa’s Western Cape: 2 died in the flood

The Western Cape province of South Africa has been hit by severe floods, resulting in the loss of two lives and significant damage to the local agriculture sector. Preliminary estimates suggest that the floods could cause up to one billion rands in damages, equivalent to approximately $54.5 million.

The torrential rains and subsequent flooding have affected farmlands, crops, and livestock, posing a significant economic setback for the agricultural community in the region. Efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to affected farmers and communities.

The government and relevant authorities are working towards providing relief and support to mitigate the impact of the floods on the local agriculture sector.
