Smooth Polling in North Karnataka Despite Minor Incidents
The second phase of polling in North Karnataka concluded peacefully, with only a few minor incidents reported. In Elimunnoli village near Hukkeri of Belagavi district, two young men came to blows over a trivial issue while waiting in a queue at a polling booth. However, the police intervened and resolved the situation swiftly. Congress booth agent Hanumant Arabavi was allegedly attacked by BJP supporters in Bandarhalli, resulting in injuries.
However, most candidates and senior leaders cast their votes without any hassle. Despite some delays and technical snags in starting polling, voter turnout was high across Belagavi, Vijayapura, and Bagalkot districts, with Chikkodi recording 79%, Belagavi 72%, Vijayapura 66%, and Bagalkot 73% voting. Despite minor incidents, the polling process was largely peaceful, ensuring democratic participation in the electoral process.
