Singara Chennai Travel Card: Transforming Public Transport Convenience

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has launched the Singara Chennai Travel Card, a smart card aimed at promoting cashless ticketing in public transport. Envisioned under the national common ticketing system, the card can be used for seamless travel in buses and metro trains across the country.

Tamil Nadu Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar introduced the card, with MTC Managing Director Alby John Varghese highlighting the ease of obtaining it from major bus terminals in Chennai. The card, issued initially in 50,000 units by the State Bank of India, can be purchased and recharged online, via mobile apps, and at authorized sales centers. This initiative simplifies ticketing and encourages digital payments for a hassle-free commuting experience.
