Siddaramaiah Requests National Recognition for Rani Chennamma’s Samadhi

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the declaration of Rani Chennamma’s Samadhi in Bailahongala as a ‘Monument of National Importance.

‘ He emphasized Rani Chennamma’s pivotal role in leading armed resistance against British colonial rule, marking her as a significant figure in India’s history.

The CM highlighted the cultural and historical importance of the site, calling it a symbol of courage and sacrifice. Recognizing the Samadhi will preserve her legacy, promote cultural tourism, and contribute to regional development, Siddaramaiah explained.

He further noted that this step would ensure the site’s protection and proper conservation. The Chief Minister also stressed that such recognition would educate future generations about Rani Chennamma’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Siddaramaiah urged the Prime Minister to expedite the process through the Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India.
