Sharmila Accuses Jagan Government of Betraying Prohibition Promise
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila strongly criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for backtracking on its pledge to enforce total prohibition, alleging the sale of sub-standard liquor. Speaking at a public gathering in Gangadhara Nellore, Sharmila emphasized how the government’s actions have adversely affected the health of citizens, leading to various ailments such as liver, kidney, and heart issues.
She highlighted the economic burden placed on the poor and marginalized communities due to frequent hikes in power tariffs, RTC bus charges, and essential commodity prices during the tenure of the Jagan Mohan Reddy administration. Additionally, Sharmila expressed concerns over the rising number of farmer suicides and criticized the insufficient measures taken to address the agricultural crisis. Moreover, she pledged the Congress party’s commitment to reviving sugar factories in Chittoor district and generating employment opportunities for the youth, while also calling out Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayanaswamy for allegedly neglecting the concerns of his constituency.
