Severe Storms Leave Thousands Without Power in South Australia
Tens of thousands of South Australians were left without electricity after a severe storm swept across the state. South Australia Power Networks reported that 23,000 households and businesses were without power on Tuesday morning following an intense lightning storm the previous night. The State Emergency Service received over 250 calls for assistance, primarily due to fallen trees and branches caused by wind speeds exceeding 100 km per hour.
Lightning strikes were also a significant factor, damaging insulators and power lines. SA Power Networks apologized to customers who received messages indicating power cuts due to high bushfire danger. Motorists were advised to exercise caution due to debris on roads and affected traffic lights.
