Serial ‘Bride’ Thief Arrested in Kanpur
In a case reminiscent of the Bollywood film ‘Dolly ki Doli,’ a woman in Kanpur has been arrested for impersonating a bride and looting grooms after marriage. Using multiple aliases like Shivangi Sisodia, Pinki Gautam, and Savita Shastri, she would marry unsuspecting men and vanish shortly after, taking with her their money, jewelry, and valuables.
Her latest victim, a constable named Jitendra Gautam, filed a complaint after she duped him of Rs 10 lakhs. Their relationship began in 2016 through social media, and she even took Rs 6.21 lakhs from him for an SUV that he never received. It was revealed that the woman’s relatives were also fake, hired for the ruse.
The police are investigating her and others involved in the scam. A case has been registered against her for extortion, breach of trust, fraud, and second marriage while being married.
