A woman in Mumbai made headlines after calling the Mumbai Police Control Room to report a bomb allegedly planted in the upscale Napean Sea Road area, which ultimately turned out to be a false alarm. Astonishingly, investigations revealed that she had placed 38 similar hoax bomb threat calls in the past, causing the police to scramble for nonexistent explosives in various locations.
Mumbai Police has recently faced a surge of similar false alarms, including warnings of “26/11-style terror strikes” and bomb threats at high-profile locations like Mantralaya, police headquarters, airports, railways, and suburban trains. Authorities have identified the woman and discovered that other calls came from mentally unstable individuals, an ill minor boy, and some suspicious characters who now face legal consequences.
