Senior Kerala Doctor Faces Consequences for Kissing Woman Intern in 2019

A senior government doctor in Kerala is facing consequences after a woman doctor, who was working as an intern at a state-run hospital in Ernakulam in 2019, revealed that she was kissed by him during her internship. The male doctor, who now works at another state-run hospital in Ernakulam, and the victim, who is currently employed as a doctor abroad, became embroiled in a controversy when the victim shared her ordeal on social media.

Following this, the Ernakulam district health authorities and State Health Minister Veena George initiated action. The local police have begun their investigation, and once the victim provides her statement online, legal action against the senior doctor is expected. The victim’s decision to revisit the case was prompted by a lack of follow-up action when she initially reported the incident to higher-ups at the hospital.
