Seema Misra’s Rejection of Apologies Reflects Deep Resentment Amid Post Office Scandal

Seema Misra, an Indian-origin former Post Office manager in England, has firmly rejected apologies from key figures involved in her wrongful conviction during the Post Office scandal. Despite the apologies from individuals like ex-Fujitsu engineer Gareth Jenkins and former Post Office Managing Director David Smith, Misra remains adamant that these gestures come “too little, too late.”

Her conviction, overturned in 2021 after she served time in prison while pregnant, underscored the devastating impact of faulty accounting software. The ongoing public inquiry has revealed systemic flaws in the Horizon IT system, which led to wrongful accusations against hundreds of sub-postmasters, many of Indian heritage. Misra’s case serves as a poignant example of the human toll exacted by technological failures and legal injustices, highlighting the enduring trauma and skepticism towards official apologies and acknowledgments.
