Seattle Police Officer Removed from Patrol Duty After Controversial Comments About Student’s Death
Seattle Police Officer Daniel Auderer has been administratively reassigned to a non-operational position after making controversial comments about the death of Indian student Jaahnavi Kandula in a bodycam video. Auderer joked about Kandula’s death and suggested that her life had “limited value.” His comments sparked international condemnation and calls for his dismissal.
Auderer defended his remarks, claiming they were not made with malice, but the Seattle Police Department removed him from patrol duty in response to the controversy. Kandula was killed when she was hit by a Seattle Police vehicle driven by another officer, Kevin Dave, in January.
