After a hiatus of seven years due to severed diplomatic relations, Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Iran has officially resumed its operations. The embassy in Tehran reopened on Sunday, following the announcement of diplomatic relations resumption between Iran and Saudi Arabia in April.
This move comes after Riyadh severed ties in 2016 due to attacks on its diplomatic missions in Iran, triggered by the execution of a Shiite cleric. Iran also reopened its embassy in Riyadh and its consulate general and representative office in Jeddah in early June.
