An overnight drone strike conducted by Russian forces has targeted port facilities on the River Danube in Ukraine’s Izmail area, causing damage to both port and agricultural infrastructure, confirmed Oleh Kiper, the Governor of the Odesa region. This attack comes after an earlier drone strike in the same region earlier this week, during which Ukraine claimed that Russian drones landed on Romanian territory, a claim Romania denied.
Russia has been targeting Ukraine’s Danube port facilities for over a month as part of its efforts to disrupt Kyiv’s grain exports via the river. Additionally, on the same night, Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, experienced a missile attack, though no casualties or damage were reported as Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed all incoming Russian missiles.
