Russia Launches Missile Strike on Kyiv and Kharkiv, Confirms Ukraine’s Military
Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched a missile strike on Kyiv and Kharkiv on January 23, 2024. The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, urged residents to seek shelter as explosions were reported in the city. Air defense systems were activated to repel the missile attack, according to Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration.
Lawmaker Iryna Geraschenko described the intensity of the attack, stating, “Strong explosions, our house … was shaking.” In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that the city was also targeted by Russia. The situation remains tense, with reports of multiple explosions and damage in both cities.
