Russia and North Korea Exchange Military Support Amid Ukraine War

Russia has reportedly provided North Korea with oil, anti-aircraft missiles, and economic aid in exchange for North Korean troops to support Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, according to government officials and research groups. The U.S. and South Korea have accused North Korea of sending over 10,000 soldiers to fight alongside Russian forces, with experts suggesting that Pyongyang seeks advanced military technology and battle experience in return. South Korea’s top security advisor confirmed that North Korea received critical military equipment, including anti-aircraft missiles, to bolster its air defense.

Satellite images also revealed oil shipments from Russia to North Korea, indicating a direct exchange of resources for military support. This arrangement follows the strategic partnership treaty signed between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in June, which strengthens military cooperation between the two nations. Analysts suggest that North Korea’s involvement in the Russian war could shift its foreign policy, reducing reliance on China while positioning itself as a key supplier of military aid to Russia.
