RSS General Secretary Addresses Electoral Bonds and Minority Concept

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale addressed two significant topics during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), emphasizing the experimental nature of the electoral bonds scheme and advocating for a reconsideration of the concept of minorities. Hosabale regarded the electoral bonds scheme as an experiment, acknowledging the skepticism surrounding its efficacy but highlighting the importance of allowing time to evaluate its impact. On the concept of minorities, he expressed concerns about the term creating divisions in society and advocated for a reevaluation of the idea as outlined in the Indian Constitution.

Hosabale emphasized the need for communication with all communities, regardless of their minority status, and highlighted the RSS’s inclusive approach, citing examples of engagement with Muslims and Christians. He underscored the RSS’s opposition to the politics of minorityism and reiterated its commitment to social harmony initiatives aimed at eliminating social evils like untouchability and caste divides. Furthermore, he voiced support for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and welcomed its enactment in Uttarakhand, emphasizing the RSS’s desire for its implementation nationwide. Hosabale’s remarks underscored the RSS’s stance on electoral reforms and its approach to fostering societal cohesion while advocating for policy measures aligned with its principles.
