A dilapidated Anganwadi building in Aranthangi municipality collapsed, injuring three individuals, including a 10-month-old baby and a three-year-old girl. The injured were treated at the Aranthangi government hospital and later discharged. The municipality chairman stated that the building had been scheduled for demolition, and an inquiry will be conducted.
Despite complaints about the building’s condition, no action had been taken. The incident occurred during a vaccination drive at the Anganwadi. The building, constructed about 23 years ago, had undergone renovation in 2020. As a result of the collapse, Anganwadi’s operations have been temporarily shifted to another building in the municipality, and a new building is being requested.
