RGGGH Treats International Patients, Bangladesh Leads the List
A 67-year-old man from Bangladesh, who arrived in Chennai seeking medical treatment, underwent successful angioplasty with two stents placed at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH). He is among the 41 international patients treated at RGGGH between January and August 20 this year. The patients are mainly from Bangladesh (26), followed by Nigeria (six), the Republic of Ghana (four), and a few from Sri Lanka.
The patient sought consultation for chest pain in a private hospital but suffered a heart attack upon arrival, leading to treatment at RGGGH’s Cardiology department. The cost of treatment for international patients includes room charges, medication, and stents, with a total expenditure of Rs. 92,500 for this case. RGGGH’s dean E. Theranirajan noted that this reflects the trust in the government healthcare sector.
