Revitalizing Heritage: Karnataka’s Initiative for 3D Virtual Monument Tours
The Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage (DAMH) in Karnataka is spearheading an innovative project to offer 3D virtual walkthroughs of key monuments in the state, aiming to kindle interest and boost tourism. With a budgetary allocation of ₹1 crore, DAMH plans to start with 10 monuments before expanding to cover 530 sites, leveraging cutting-edge 3D Immersive and Generative AI technology for an immersive experience.
Partnering with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology for 3D laser mapping, DAMH seeks to showcase intricate details of monuments, enhancing viewer engagement and appreciation. Beyond static images, the initiative aims to provide a dynamic, lifelike experience akin to physically visiting these cultural treasures, fostering a deeper connection with Karnataka’s rich heritage.
