Residents of TNUHDB Tenements Face Hurdles in Exercising Voting Rights

Residents of Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) tenements in Perumbakkam, Semmenchery, and Kannagi Nagar faced challenges in casting their votes due to outdated addresses on their voter IDs. Despite applying for address changes, many residents complained that the updates were not made. Sparse government camps to assist with voter ID applications further compounded the issue, with many residents unaware of the process.

Practical difficulties, including poor transportation and distant polling stations, prevented some residents from exercising their democratic rights, forcing them to travel as far as 30 km to cast their votes.
