Rescue Efforts Continue for 40 Trapped Labourers in Uttarakhand Tunnel
Rescue operations persist for the third day to save 40 labourers trapped in an under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. The tunnel collapse occurred due to a landslide on the Yamunotri National Highway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains in touch with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, staying updated on the situation.
The rescue involves the use of 900 mm diameter steel pipes and drill machines, prioritizing the supply of oxygen to the trapped labourers. The trapped workers, representing various states, remain in contact with rescue personnel through walkie-talkies, expressing hope for a swift rescue.
The district administration has detailed the demographics of the trapped labourers, comprising individuals from Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Odisha.
