RDO Initiates Probe into Death of 22-Year-Old Woman

The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) has commenced an investigation into the recent death of a 22-year-old woman, Sharmila, from Jalladianpet. Sharmila’s husband, Praveen, 26, was murdered a few months ago in Pallikaranai in a case of honor killing. Praveen, a member of the Dalit community, married Sharmila, from another backward caste, against her family’s wishes.

Following Praveen’s murder, Sharmila’s brother and four others were arrested. Allegations were made against Sharmila’s family members, and she attempted suicide. Despite being admitted to the hospital, she passed away. Now, with the involvement of the RDO and an Assistant Commissioner, separate inquiries are being conducted into the case, as per the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
