Rapido Introduces Electric Vehicles Exclusively for Women in Chennai

Rapido, a bike taxi aggregator, has launched its “Bike Pink” service in Chennai, exclusively for women. South Chennai Member of Parliament Thamizachi Thangapandian inaugurated the service, highlighting its importance in providing safe mobility and employment opportunities for women. Rapido has distributed 25 electric vehicles to women drivers who are facing financial challenges.

The program includes comprehensive training to equip women drivers with essential safety and driving skills in collaboration with various non-governmental organizations. Rapido plans to increase the number of women drivers to 500 in the next three months through collaborations with NGOs, offering them the opportunity to earn between ₹800 to ₹1,000 per day, translating to a monthly income of ₹25,000 to ₹30,000.

The service will cover important Metro Rail stations and more than 10 women’s colleges in various parts of the city.
