Rape Victim Attempts Self-Immolation at Grievance Redressal Program in Meerut

A rape victim made a desperate attempt to immolate herself during a grievance redressal program in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Saturday during the ‘Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas’ in Sardhana. The woman and her family brought inflammable substances to the event, demanding the arrest of the accused in the rape case.

The police intervened and confiscated the inflammable materials while assuring the family of appropriate action in the case. The incident relates to a rape case filed about six months ago when the woman was a minor. During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused was not present in the area at the time of the incident but was in Punjab.
