Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited Bool Garhi village in Hathras on December 12, 2024, to meet the family of a Dalit woman who died following an alleged gang rape in September 2020. The visit saw heightened police presence, with the Congress leader reaffirming his commitment to justice alongside Priyanka Gandhi, who had previously met the family in October 2020.
While BJP leaders criticized the visit as political posturing, the Gandhis emphasized their resolve to fight for justice. The victim, a 19-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries after being transferred from Aligarh to Delhi for treatment. The case, initially probed by local police, was handed over to the CBI, which filed charges against four accused individuals.
