Rahul Gandhi Mourns Sikkim Flash Floods, Urges Congress Workers to Aid Relief Efforts
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Sikkim and urged Congress party workers to collaborate with the administration in relief efforts. In a Facebook post in Hindi, Gandhi said, “The death of many people in the floods triggered by a cloudburst in Sikkim is extremely sad.
My condolences to all the bereaved families.” He called upon Congress workers to assist with relief work and expressed hope for the safe return of all citizens, including missing soldiers. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal also called for declaring the Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh floods as national disasters to ensure adequate funds for rebuilding ecologically fragile Himalayan states.
