Rahul Gandhi Denounces BJP Tactics and Alleges Election Manipulation
At a rally in Mumbai, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, accusing it of relying on tactics like the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax department to secure electoral victories. Gandhi lambasted the ruling dispensation for allegedly undermining democratic institutions, asserting that Modi’s success in elections hinges on these factors.
Addressing the opposition INDIA bloc rally, Gandhi emphasized that their struggle wasn’t against a single party or individual but against a pervasive “power” entrenched in various institutions. He criticized political maneuvers within parties, hinting at coercion into alliances, and highlighted instances of leaders being allegedly coerced into joining the BJP.
Gandhi underscored the importance of unity among opposition parties to challenge the ruling regime’s grip on power. Other opposition leaders echoed Gandhi’s sentiments, with Farooq Abdullah calling for voting safeguards and Mehbooba Mufti accusing the BJP of fearing the Gandhi surname. The rally, attended by leaders from various opposition parties, served as a platform to galvanize support ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with a focus on countering what they perceive as authoritarian tendencies within the ruling establishment.
