Radha Nagar Subway Nears Completion After Prolonged Delays

The long-awaited vehicular subway at Radha Nagar in Chromepet is finally nearing completion, with an estimated finish by the end of this month. Initiated in 2006 to ease access to GST Road and bypass level crossing 27, the ₹17.65 crore project has faced multiple delays due to government changes, land disputes, and railway clearance issues.

Currently 75% complete, the remaining work includes shifting an escalator, modifying footbridge pillars, and constructing storm-water drains and footpaths. Activist V. Santhanam highlighted the decades-long struggle, while resident D. Guru Subramanian anticipates reduced traffic snarls and improved pedestrian safety once the project is finished.
