Amidst the Karnataka bandh called to oppose the release of water to Tamil Nadu, over 20 activists affiliated with Kannada organizations were detained at the Bengaluru International Airport. These activists, associated with the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, gathered near the airport’s arrival gate, brandishing Kannada flags and raising slogans against the Tamil Nadu government and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
They attempted to enter the airport but were thwarted by police and security personnel. The bandh, supported by various organizations, the BJP, and JD(S), received a significant response across the state, causing disruptions in public transportation and the closure of many shops and establishments, particularly in the capital and southern Karnataka districts.
